Labyrinth On The Thames

This summer, Alliance proudly supported Labyrinth Events in delivering a series of open-air concerts at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of London’s most recognisable landmarks. Across multiple consecutive days of ticketed performances featuring some of the UK’s leading DJs and artists, the event welcomed over 57,000 attendees, transforming the riverside grounds into a vibrant live music destination.

Working alongside We Are Group (Production and Safety) and Labyrinth Events, Alliance deployed a team of over 100 security and crowd management personnel each day, supported by additional night teams providing 24-hour site guarding, build and break coverage, and asset protection.

Given the site’s heritage status and the need to protect its historic architecture, the operation required careful coordination and attention to detail. The team delivered CCTV monitoring and security control room services, allowing for real-time situational awareness across the event footprint and immediate communication between key stakeholders.

Our Responsibilities:

• Search and entry procedures to maintain safety and compliance

• Crowd monitoring and flow management throughout the main arena and circulation zones

• Egress management ensuring safe departures through limited exit routes

• Back-of-house and production access control

• CCTV operations and control room coordination

• Liaison with venue management, event control, and local authorities

Key challenges centred around maintaining consistent search standards under high footfall, and managing crowd flow during egress while safeguarding the historic environment. Clear communication, structured briefing, and close coordination between Alliance supervisors, Labyrinth’s event control, and stewards ensured a safe and efficient operation from start to finish.

Beyond the operational success, this was a truly memorable deployment. The beauty of the site, the professionalism of the production team, and the energy of the audience made it a standout event for everyone involved. Our team thoroughly enjoyed the experience of working in such an iconic setting — one that required precision, adaptability, and respect for the venue’s heritage.

The Old Royal Naval College events demonstrated Alliance’s ability to deliver large-scale, high-profile music experiences within complex heritage environments, combining technology, teamwork, and expertise to create a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all.
